PRP injections for hair regrowth and rejuvenation
What is it?
PRP is an innovative, natural therapy used individually or as an adjunct treatment for hair regrowth and/ or rejuvenation. PRP injections utilize a patient’s own platelet rich plasma to halt and reverse the process of miniaturization of hair follicles seen in male and female pattern hair loss.
How does it work?
Our platelets and plasma contain active growth and healing factors that can stimulate the body to create new collagen, form new tiny blood vessels, reverse miniaturization of hair follicles, rejuvenate dormant hair follicles and stimulate them to enter a growth phase.
PRP solution is also used in orthopedics to treat tendon and ligament damage, painful arthritis and to help with postoperative healing after orthopedic injuries and surgeries.
Who can benefit from PRP injections?
PRP injections are used in men and women who have thinning hair or hair loss (androgenetic alopecia also known as male or female pattern hair loss). It can be used in combination with other therapies including Rogaine, finasteride (Propecia) and hair transplantation. PRP injections are most effective when used in combination with other treatment modalities.
What is the procedure like?
Utilizing specialized blood collection tubes, blood is drawn in the same way it would be for a basic blood test.
The tubes are then centrifuged at a high speed for 10 minutes in order to separate the blood components and isolate the platelet rich plasma.
The platelet rich plasma is then injected into the scalp in areas of hair thinning or loss. You may initially feel some pressure and soreness at the treatment sites that will resolve over the next few hours.
What is the treatment schedule?
It is recommended that you are treated once a month for 4 months. To start, you MUST purchase a package of four treatments. Why? One PRP treatment alone will not be effective and we want you to have the best possible chance of experiencing great results! Most people start seeing improvement after two treatments, but four treatments are needed to optimally extend the life of the hair follicles.
Are follow up treatments necessary?
Yes. If you don’t continue with follow up treatments, you will eventually lose the beneficial effects of PRP. After your four initial treatments, it is recommended that you come for PRP injections once every 6 months (twice a year) in order to maintain the benefits.
Are PRP injections safe? Are there any downsides?
Since the PRP is created from the patient’s own plasma, there is virtually no risk of allergic reaction or rejection.
There may be some temporary pressure and discomfort associated with the procedure. PRP injections are not effective for everyone.
